Ex-Defense Minister Akhmetov charged with corruption

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Former Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov has been charged with corruption, the Kazakh Civil Service Affairs and Anticorruption Agency reports.
The agency is currently investigating a number of corruption-related crimes and it is believed that former administration of Karaganda region and Karaganda city, including B. Abdishev, M. Smagulov, A. Esse, G. Rakhimzhanov and many others have hand in those crimes. As for Serik Akhmetov who used to be the governor of the region, he was charged with corruption and placed under house arrest. Additional details were not given.
