European Commission supports progress in improving Kazakhstan's competitiveness

 BRUSSELS. September 19. KAZINFORM The European Commission supports the progress in improving the competitiveness of Kazakhstan.

The EC commented on the decision of the World Economic Forum (WEF) to give Kazakhstan 51st place in the world on overall competitiveness.

"The European Commission will continue to support progress in increasing the competitiveness of Kazakhstan. This goals is pursued through negotiations on the bilateral agreement with the EU [on enhanced partnership and cooperation]. Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO will also benefit the competitiveness of Kazakhstan," European Commission says.

September 5 this year, the World Economic Forum gave Kazakhstan 51th place in the Global Competitiveness Index. Since last year, the country climbed up 15 positions from the 72nd place. The assessment of the competitiveness covers 144 countries.
