EU upbeat on climate change deals in Copenhagen
JAKARTA. November 9. KAZINFORM. The European Union (EU) was optimistic that the upcoming Copenhagen climate change summit would end up successfully with many climate change deals being approved by participating countries, EU Council President Carl Bildt said here on Monday; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
"I had conducted talks on climate change issues with the Indian government in New Delhi, with President Barrack Obama in the United States and with Russian leaders. The talks results indicated significantly that they had moved to the rights direction, toward compromises, in the upcoming Copenhagen summit, including in the funding issue," Carl said to the press on the sidelines EU partnership agreement signing with Indonesia held here.
Citing to the talks results, Carl said that most developed countries leaders would likely gakie compromise stance in the world's climate change summit scheduled to take place from December 7 to 18 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Apart from that, EU appreciated emission reduction target initially issued by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at 26 percent by 2020 in the recent G20 summit held in the United States, Carl added; Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.news.xinhuanet.com for full version.
