EU-India summit to focus on climate, energy and trade

BRUSSELS. November 5. KAZINFORM  /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Annual summit "European Union-India" is to be held Friday in Delhi. The European Commission will be led by Jose Manuel Barroso. He will be accompanied by EU Commissioner for External Relations Benito Ferrero Waldner and EU Commissioner for Trade Katherine Ashton.

The parties will focus both on regional and global issues like climate change, energy security and fight with terrorism. Besides, the participants will consider international respond to the global financial economic crisis and reforming the international financial institutes following the G20 summit in Saint Petersburg.

The EU-India summit is called to stress adherence to achievement of progress in talks on bilateral trade and investment agreements. The EU and India plan to enter into agreement on research in thermonuclear energy. Recently the EC and India launched joint contest of projects worth EUR 10 mln for carrying out researches in solar energy.
