EU and Kazakhstan must develop cooperation in energy and agricultural spheres - European Parliament Deputy J. Wojciechowski
BRUSSELS. April 22. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakhstan and the European Union have to develop cooperation in energy sphere and agriculture.
Deputy of the European Parliament Janusz Wojciechowski told Kazinform correspondents upon the completion of the 'round table' talks held in the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Belgium and dedicated to the 20th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan and to the Kazakh-European relations.
J. Wojciechowski highly appraised the intention of Kazakhstan and the EU to develop bilateral cooperation. According to him, Kazakhstan is highly important country in the European energy policy due to its natural riches, especially in oil and gas. Besides, the food prices are rising around the world but Kazakhstan has great potential for development of agriculture. The EU must strengthen cooperation in this field. 'In my opinion, these two are the main directions of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union that should be developed,' he said.
Besides, the deputy of the European Parliament noted that Kazakhstan is one of the most stable countries in Central Asia. Moreover, political processes in Kazakhstan are stable and democratic. It was the reason the European Parliament did not send its observers to monitor the early presidential elections in Kazakhstan. 'We have already participated in the presidential elections and we know that the elections in Kazakhstan have always been democratic. Therefore, we did not send our representatives to the recent elections in Kazakhstan,' he concluded.
