EU and CAREC embark on a new awareness-raising mission in Central Asia
ALMATY. February 1. KAZINFORM The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC announced the launch of the new project "Targeted awareness raising for enhanced EU-CA partnership" funded by the European Union (EU).
CAREC's application has been selected out of dozens of proposal submitted to the European Commission (EC) for the "Environmental Awareness Raising (AWARE)" grant. The sum awarded to CAREC for the implementation of the project has amounted to 800.000 EURO.
The two-year (2012-2014) project will be implemented in five countries of the Central Asian region: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The key objective of the new EC-CAREC endeavour is to "increase awareness on the most problematic environmental issues in water management, environmental governance and climate change (CC) to enhance regional and EU-CA cooperation and partnership."
