Estonian president evacuated from his residence over bomb threat

TALLINN. May 27.KAZINFORM Estonian President Toomas Henrik Ilves was evacuated from his residence in downtown Tallinn on Wednesday night over a bomb threat, local police said.

An unidentified person called a police station and speaking Estonian said that a bomb was planted in the presidential residence and it would go off in half an hour. The president was immediately evacuated after the call.

Police said the bomb threat was false as law enforcers and sappers searched the presidential palace and found no explosive device. They added that the suspected criminal was already detained.

The Estonian Criminal Code envisages a considerable fine or a five-year prison term for false bomb threats, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
