Enthusiastic participants of Turkish Olympiads enjoy Bosporus
ISTANBUL. May 27. KAZINFORM Some of the 750 students from 120 countries who will compete in this year's International Turkish Language Olympiads have already arrived in İstanbul and on Sunday had the chance to experience İstanbul's beauty with a Bosporus tour.
One-hundred twenty students have arrived in Turkey from a number of countries including Mozambique, Indonesia, Kenya, Kazakhstan, the US, Russia and Greenland. Their first stop in İstanbul was Miniatürk, the miniature replica park on the Golden Horn in İstanbul's Sütlüce neighborhood.
Later, the students took a boat tour on the Bosporus. While enjoying the scenic beauties of İstanbul, they also showcased their abilities, singing songs and performing Turkish folk dances.
Now in its eighth year, this year's International Turkish Language Olympiads is due to kick off with an opening ceremony on May 26 at İstanbul's Dolmabahçe Palace. Organized by the International Turkish Education Association (TÜRKÇEDER), the International Turkish Language Olympiads are set to stage colorful shows. The students will compete in 13 categories ranging from poetry to songs. While speaking, writing, grammar, poetry, singing, presentation skills and specific ability contests will be held under the category of "Turkish as a foreign language," essay writing, poetry and general knowledge contests will be held under the category of "Turkish as a native language."
