Energy Minister: After 2020 level of oil production will exceed 100 million tons

"According to our forecasts from 2020 level of oil production in Kazakhstan will exceed 100 million tons per year, or 2 million barrels per day", informed the head of the Energy Ministry. He said that over the past 20 years, oil production in Kazakhstan increased 3-fold and reached 1.6 million barrels per day. Gas production increased by 5-fold. At the present time the country produces more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year. "Oil and gas, as well as energy industries are one of the basic structural elements of our economy. During the years of independence, we have entered the top 15 of the largest holders of proven reserves of oil and the top 20 of the largest holders of gas reserves," said Vladimir Shkolnik.
