Sarytogan is developing one of the world’s largest known high‑grade graphite deposits in Kazakhstan.

The new funds will finance a definitive feasibility study and project‑related development, including environmental work and product marketing.

Graphite is a critical raw material used in electric vehicle batteries, the power industry, and metallurgy.

The project supports Kazakhstan’s role in the global supply of critical raw materials.

The EBRD has invested nearly 12.6 billion US dollars (10.8 billion euro) in Kazakhstan through 352 projects, making the country its largest and longest‑standing investment destination in Central Asia.

Besides, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing an A/B loan of up to US$ 548 million (€467 million) to Aktas Energy for the construction and commissioning of the Mirny wind power plant in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan.
