East Kazakhstan to host International Festival of Eagle Hunters
On October 12, the East Kazakhstan region’s Ulan district is set to host the annual Shygys Salburyny International Festival of Eagle Hunters, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The event will be held in Burkit Tobe area near the village of Bozanbay.
The festival is organized with the support of the East Kazakhstan Governor, Yermek Kosherbayev, and Republican Qusbegilik Association.
This is not just a competition of hunting birds, but a large festival reviving the heritage of the Kazakh people and propagating healthy lifestyle through the development of national sports.
According to Deputy Governor of the region Yerbol Nurgaliyev, the festival is a unique event uniting the best eagle hunters and tazy dog from Kazakhstan and abroad. As many as 80 eagles, 30 falcons and 30 tazy hunting dogs from Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Hungary are expected to participate in this year’s tournament.
World-famous eagle huntress Aisholpan Nurgaiyp, coach of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport Bazarbek Kuntugan and Vice President of the Republican Qusbegilik Association Bagdatkhan Muptekekyzy will join the festival too.
“This is not just a sports competition, but a chance to demonstrate the beauty and the power of our history and culture. The event will also attract tourists to the region, which will contribute to the development of the region’s economy and tourism sectors,” Yerbol Nurgaliyev said at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service.
