ASTANA. October 13. KAZINFORM Each fifth water reservoir in Kazakhstan needs overhaul. Chairman of the Committee for Water Resources of Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture Anarbek Orman has made it public at a press conference in Astana today.
According to him, the country has 560 reservoirs, 66 of them are in the republican ownership and 175 - in communal, 211 are private, 108 remain unowned. 113 out of them need major overhaul.
Since spring 22 abandoned reservoirs have been transferred to communal ownership. More than KZT 1 billion will be allocated for reconstruction of the reservoirs in 2011.
