E-voting system not to be used in oncoming presidential election - Central Election Commission
ASTANA. February 4. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ Chairman of Kazakhstan Central Election Commission Kuandyk Turgankulov has held a briefing for the journalists today. According to him, 'Sailau' e-voting system will not be used in the forthcoming presidential election.
"Unfortunately, currently we cannot say that the e-voting system has been approved by our society and all participants of the election process. As the last election results show, the voters preferred to use traditional ballots. 7.2% of voters only used the e-voting system in 2004. In 2005 this figure was 5.8% and in 2007 it made 2.2% only", K. Turgankulov noted.
"Taking into account these indices, we decided not to use 'Sailau' e-voting system in the oncoming presidential election", he added.
