Dzhaksybekov attends 65th meeting of CIS Defense Ministers' Council
ASTANA. November 21. KAZINFORM - Today in Moscow the Minister of Defense Adilbek Dzhaksybekov has participated in the regular 65th meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS CDM), the press service of the Defense Ministry of Kazakhstan says.
The defense ministers discussed a wide range of issues on interaction of the armed forces of the CIS. Working together the ministers took stock of CIS Defence Ministers Council for 2013 and identified the main areas of cooperation for the next year .
In particular, the participants took into consideration the joint activities of the joint air defense system of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2014, cooperation in the field of rapid exchange of geospatial information in the interests of the armies of the CIS member states, issues of military-technical cooperation and future directions of multilateral collaboration in the field of military education.
The meeting also discussed practical implementation of the activities of operational and combat training, the training and advanced training of specialists in the field of counter-terrorism. In addition, within the framework of cooperation in military education the Russian side proposed to hold the Olympics for cadets of higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the CIS.
During the talks the defense ministers discussed the current state and prospects of development of military and military-technical cooperation. Adilbek Dzhaksybekov stressed that high-level contacts between the heads of state gave a positive impetus to cooperation in the defense sector, strengthen mutual understanding and contribute to the effective development of cooperation in the defense sector.
To ensure the regulatory framework of cooperation the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan signed the bilateral cooperation plan for 2014 with the military departments of Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine.
