Draft program ready to arm CSTO rapid response forces

VITEBSK DISTRICT. July 30. KAZINFORM A list of standard-issue weapons for military units, special operations units of interior ministries, antiterrorism organizations and emergencies ministries will be stipulated in a draft program meant to equip the CSTO collective rapid response forces. Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordiuzha made the statement on 29 July, BelTA has learned.

Nikolai Bordiuzha and members of the Permanent Council under the Collective Security Treaty Organization got familiar with the combat training of the 103rd mobile brigade of the Belarusian army and its equipment on that day.

According to the source, there is a list of standard-issue weapons for military units that make part of the collective rapid response forces. A similar list has been put together for special operations units of interior ministries and emergencies ministries. Consultations will be held soon to work out a list of weaponry for antiterrorism units. Then the program will be forwarded for approval of the heads of state, said Nikolai Bordiuzha. The process goes smoothly, he added.

The top officers of the special operations forces of Belarus were already getting familiar with the draft program, added Oleg Belokonev, the chief of the special operations forces of Belarus.

The draft program to arm the CSTO collective rapid response forces will be presented to the presidents of the CSTO member states at the December session of the Collective Security Council; Kazinform cites BelTA.
