Draft law ratifying Int'l Convention against Use of Dope in Sports discussed in Majilis

ASTANA. September 10. KAZINFORM. /Muratbek Makulbekov/ A draft law "On ratification of the International Convention against the Use of Dope in Sports" has been discussed at the sitting of the working group of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament today.

The bill was introduced by Vice Minister of Tourism and Sport Kairbek Uskenbayev. According to him, the adoption of the draft law will create an international legal framework for Kazakhstan to take measures correspondent to the principles of the World Antidumping Code and International Olympic Committee. Besides, it help promote all forms of international cooperation aimed at ensuring protection of sportsmen.

The ratification of the draft law will promote Kazakhstan's sport on the world arena and confirm the country's intention to observe and apply international requirements on prevention of doping in sports. It is very important on the threshold of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and 2011 Asian Winter Games in Astana and Almaty. To date 71 countries joined the Convention.
