Double explosions hit centre of Afghan capital, Kabul

KABUL. August 19. KAZINFORM Two explosions have hit the centre of the Afghan capital, Kabul, near the city's Intercontinental Hotel; Kazinform cites BBC.
The first blast went off at 05:38 (01:08 GMT), with a second 10 minutes later; sporadic gunfire was also heard.
The explosions were caused by suicide attacks, Kabul's police chief Ayub Salangi told the AFP news agency. "My boys are engaged. I will give more information later," he said.
Smoke can be seen rising from the area, the BBC's Masoud Popalzai reports.
