On December 23, 2023, Dimash Qudaibergen gave a solo concert in Hong Kong. The celebration was dedicated to a memorable date: exactly seven years ago, the 22-year-old Kazakh musician first arrived in the Celestial Empire to participate in the “I am a Singer” project, dimashnews.com reports.

The young singer not only performed perfectly, conquering a billion viewers in the first round, but also did amazingly throughout the entire project, every day winning hearts of more and more fans, whom he called Dears, as dear to his heart.

Seven years have passed, and the army of the singer’s fans has grown, taking over different countries and continents by storm. On the eve of the 2024 New Year, the singer came again to the place where seven years ago his creative path took a new exciting turn.

Dears from China, different cities of Europe, America, Asia, and Africa gathered at the Hong Kong Exhibition Center. And the show “Stranger”, which started its journey in September 2022 in Almaty, was special this evening.

Appearing in a bright red and gold suit, Dimash opened the concert with the song “Golden”. Immediately after the opening, the crooner announced a minute of silence for those killed in the earthquake in China.

At the beginning of the concert the first surprise of the evening – Dimash’s new composition “Smoke” was performed.

In the second part of the show, the flying vocalize “Ave Maria” unexpectedly for the fans of the Kazakh artist was replaced by another new song, the premiere of which Dears were very much waiting for – “When I’ve Got You”, the teaser for which Dimash shared via his Instagram account.

The nostalgic continuation of the concert was realized in the author’s composition of Dimash, which he wrote more than 10 years ago. “Ұмытылмас күн” accompanied by the Kazakh folk instrument sobyz performed by Sanjay Almishev again mesmerized the entire audience. Especially for the Chinese fans, Dimash sang the second verse of the song in Chinese, as he did seven years ago at the “I am a Singer” project, and the fans pleased the singer by singing the chorus in Kazakh.

Some time later, while the audience was catching archival footage on the screens of large monitors, recognizing themselves and memorable moments of meetings over the past seven years, Dimash reappeared on stage in a dark green suit, in which he performed in the first episode of the project “I am a Singer” with the same song – “S.O.S d’un terrien en détresse”.

At many of Dimash’s big concerts guest stars perform as special guests, and the show in Hong Kong was no exception. The famous musician, singer, songwriter and producer Justin Lo, with whom Dimash is familiar since the times of participation in the project “I am a Singer”, came to support the Kazakh singer. After Justin’s solo performance, he and Dimash sang together the composition “愛是永恆” / “Love is eternal” in Chinese.

The third concert block began with instrumental performances. First, there was a beautiful performance of Temirlan Olzhabaev and Ernat Nauryz compositions on dombra, and then Abilmansur Qudaibergen, transferred the atmosphere of the hall to the modern beautiful musical world with his solo on guitar. The continuation of this story was Abilmansur’s song “Together” performed by Dimash and one of the most energetic compositions, which more than once took prizes in the famous world charts “Fly away”.

The song “Stranger” by composer Igor Krutoy, which gave the name to the concert tour, opened the final block of the concert.

Dimash together with his musician friends showed the beauty of sound of folk instruments and the possibility of crossover of traditional and modern musical techniques by performing the kyu “Adai” and the Kazakh folk song “Durdaraz”.

In the finale of the concert Dimash’s favorite song “Autumn strong” was played. Dears shared that this composition sounded special this time, because it was seven years ago that the singer first sang it in Chinese.

“It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other, Dears… I look at you from the stage – you look like a big friendly family. Thank you for your support, your love. I wouldn’t have accomplished anything without you, all because of your support. I love you, see you again,” Dimash thanked his fans from the bottom of his heart, finishing the concert.
