Denis Ten, Zarina Diyas win in 2014 Best Athlete vote
ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's Sport Review Magazine has revealed the names of the best athletes of 2014 in its January issues. The annual poll was conducted among the readers and editors of the magazine.
Sochi Olympics bronze medalist Denis Ten was recognized as the Best Male Athlete (33,8% of votes). Last year's winner boxer Gennady Golovkin earned 29,7% of votes and finished in second place. 20,3% of respondents cast their votes for two-time Olympic weightlifting champion Ilya Ilyin. Kazakhstan's rising tennis star Zarina Diyas sensationally elbowed aside her opponents and topped the Best Female Athlete vote with 43,2% of votes. Track and field athlete Olga Safronova (35,2%) and boxer Nazym Kyzabai (10,8%) landed second and third places respectively.
