Delegation of Kazakhstan People's Assembly visits Netherlands
ANA. September 10. KAZINFORM. Last week the delegation of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan headed by its Vice Chairman Yeraly Tugzhanov visited the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA's press service.
The delegation held meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Integration of the Netherlands and familiarized the Dutch side with the activity of the People's Assembly.
Afterwards the delegation took part in the extended seminar on "Kazakhstan's experience of interethnic integration and tolerance" organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in association with the Office of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and Secretariat of the Kazakhstan People's Assembly.
OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek appreciated the Assembly's work and cooperation with his Office and expressed hope for further interaction. Following the results of the seminar the participants noted that the invaluable experience of Kazakhstan in building up a polyethnic and multiconfessional society would become a basis of successful chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010.
During the visit the delegation got acquainted with the experience of integration of the Friesian ethnic group into the Dutch society in the capital of Friesland Leeuwarden. Besides, they visited the Friesian Academy and Mercator European Research Center on Multilingualism and Language Learning.
