Delegation from Lower Saxony visited Almaty

ALMATY. June 21. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Almaty Mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov met with the delegation from Lower Saxony (Germany) headed by Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport Jörg Bode today.

'The economy of Germany is one of the leading economies in the world. We could see it while the global crisis. Taking into account the measures this country takes we see how economically strong Germany is. Kazakhstan attaches great importance to cooperation with Germany,' A. Yessimov emphasized.

The Almaty Mayor noted that the city paid attention to development of tourism, pharmaceutics and transport. An industrial zone with modern communications is created on the area of 490 ha. The Mayor also expressed confidence that this project might be of an interest for the businessmen of Lower Saxony. Presently, there are 216 joint enterprises and 162 enterprises with German capital in Almaty.

Jörg Bode, in his turn, noted that Kazakhstan and Germany had had tight and friendly relations for the last 20 years. 'A number of joint enterprises has been established over these years. There are a lot of people from Kazakhstan living in Germany which promotes the relations between our countries,' the German Minister noted.
