Customs Union reports higher exports in H1 2012
MOSCOW. August 23. KAZINFORM In January-June 2012 the Customs Union export growth prevailed over import growth, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
According to the update, in January-June 2012 the volume of foreign trade in goods by the Customs Union member countries totaled $459.6 billion, including $302.9 billion in exports and $156.7 billion in imports. Exports increased by 9.7%, or $26.9 billion, as against January-June 2011, imports - by 4.8%, or $7.2 billion. In January-June 2012 the Customs Union posted trade surplus of $146.2 billion. In January-June 2011 it stood at $126.6 billion.
In H1 2012 Belarus increased its exports by 46.9% over the same period last year. The country reduced its imports by 23.3%. Russian exports grew 7.2%, imports rose by 5%. The figures for Kazakhstan are 13.5% and 38.2% respectively.
The Customs Union mutual trade made up $33.9 billion in the first six months of 2012, up 13.2% over the same period a year ago. Belarus exported $8.1 billion worth of products to its Customs Union partners (a 12.5% growth), Russia - $22.5 billion (up 19.4%), and Kazakhstan - $3.3 billion (down 15.6%).
Belarus accounts for 24.1% of the total Customs Union mutual trade, Russia - for 66.3%, and Kazakhstan - for 9.6%, BelTA reports.
