Customs Code of Customs Union to undergo modernization: Finance Minster

ALMATY. March 27. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ "The Customs Code of the Customs Union will be modernized", Kazakh Minister of Finance Bolat Zhamishev has said today at the workshop in Almaty.

According to him, Kazakhstan is the only country among the Customs Union members which joined the Kyoto Convention on the simplification and harmonization of customs procedures. "The Customs Code of the Union is written in accordance with this Convention. In case the Customs Code contradicts the Kyoto agreement in any part, the Kazakh Government will raise an issue of its change", the Finance Minister noted.

According to the Minister, the Union's Customs Code is a result of work of all three participating states, in this regard some of its provisions can be treated differently. "As any legislative act regulating the economic activity sphere the Customs Code must and will be changed and modernized", B.Zhamishev said.
