CSTO signs protocol on peacekeeping activities
MOSCOW. February 7. KAZINFORM. The Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organization hosted consultations on the CSTO peacekeeping activities. Attending the meeting in Moscow were representatives of the defense and interior ministries of the CSTO member states, BelTA learnt from the CSTO Secretariat.
The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the most problematic peacekeeping issues, shared national experience in the area.
Commenting on the consultations, SCTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said that the Organization is planning hold the exercise of the peacekeeping forces. "We are currently considering where the exercise is to take place. It probably will be held in the Central Asian region," he said. According to Nikolai Bordyuzha, the collective peacekeeping forces are meant for separating warring parties and should act jointly.
The participants of the consultations signed a protocol on the ways of improving peacekeeping activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Kazinform cites BelTA.
