CSTO PA observers: No violations observed over long period of monitoring

ASTANA. April 2. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ The results of observation by the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will be positive because we have never revealed any violations while monitoring the elections in Kazakhstan. Head of the delegation of the CSTO PA Vladimir Pekhtin said it following the meeting of the Kazakh CEC Chairman K. Turgankulov with the delegation of the Russian State Duma, the observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the CSTO PA.

"As is known the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly has established an institute which conducts a long-term monitoring of application of law as well as democracy of the elections across the CIS space", V. Pekhtin said.

"Today at the meeting with K. Turgankulov we extended him a report of this institute. The report has almost no remarks which can influence the results of the elections: preparation of the voting stations, equal access to mass media, and duration of the election campaign. Thus, the institute confirms that Kazakhstan always moves towards democracy. And we have no doubts that tomorrow's elections will be held at the highest level", he added.

"I think, that our results will be positive because we have not observed any violations over a long period", he noted.
