CSTO heads of state discuss global and regional security
TANA. August 12. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Informal summit of the CSTO heads of state is taking place in the Astana Rixos hotel.
Opening the meeting President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the leaders of the CSTO member countries gathered to discuss "the global and regional security threats associated with the latest developments in the region, as well as improving the efficiency of the Organization."
Also, the leaders will discuss the forthcoming withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and issues of natural and industrial safety in the CSTO area of responsibility.
Nazarbayev also noted the increasing number of threats of international terrorism, illegal trafficking in arms, drugs. The issues in the field of information security are also on the agenda.
