CSTO Defense Council consultations over in Moscow

The Kazakh delegation was headed by Defense Minister Daniyal Akhmetov. The issues of establishment of the CSTO Collective Rapid-Reaction Forces (CRRF) were discussed at the sitting. As earlier reported, Presidents of the CSTO member states decided to establish the CRRF in February this year and set the Secretariat and the CSTO Joint Headquarters a task to prepare drafts of the regulatory document. Upon the results of the sitting, D.Akhmetov said that the establishment of the CRRF is an important event within the CSTO. According to him, the Organization member countries finally overcame divisions and advanced in ensuring regional security. Heads of the CSTO member states will sign the legal framework of the CRRF on June 14, 2009.
