CSTO countries getting ready for Interaction exercise in Belarus

MOSCOW. April 11. KAZINFORM Countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization are getting prepared for the Interaction exercise (Vzaimodeystviye) that will take place in Belarus in autumn 2013.

The information was released by Ilyazbek Subankulov, First Deputy Defense Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Chief of the Main Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan, after the session of the CSTO Military Committee in Moscow on 10 April, BelTA has learned.

The CSTO member states are now busy choosing what units and in what strength will be involved in the forthcoming exercise. Ilyazbek Subankulov reminded that the CSTO exercise will be held as part of a Belarusian-Russian exercise.

Preparations for the Interaction exercise and for the Indestructible Brotherhood exercise (Nerushimoye Bratstvo) that will take place in Russia were discussed at the session of the CSTO Military Committee. Prospects of advancing military and technical cooperation of the CSTO states were also discussed in addition to joint operational combat training.

Ilyazbek Subankulov said that participants of the session had agreed to discuss the integration of regional united air defense systems into a single CSTO air defense system at the next meeting, BelTA reports.

The session of the CSTO Military Committee gathered chiefs of general (main) staffs of the armed forces of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Tajikistan, CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov, and Chairman of the CIS Defense Ministers Council Alexander Sinaysky.
