Crucial to re-orient investments toward non-primary production sectors - Minister Aitzhanova
ALMATY. May 15. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Kazakhstan undertakes concrete measures to improve invetsment climate and re-orient investments toward non-primary sectors of the economy. Kazakh Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zhanar Aitzhanova said it at the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum "The OSCE Eurasian Dimension" in Almaty on Saturday.
According to her, USD 108 billion of direct foreign investments was attracted to Kazakhstan's economy from 2001 till 2009. About 70% out of them were directed to the primary sector. And in 2010 about 10% of funds were directed to the processing sectors. "Today, the key task of the Government in addition to the withdrawal of the country's economy from the crisis is its diversification. To fulfill this task the Program of Forced Industrialization of Kazakhstan for 2011-2014 was adopted. Special measures for improvement of business and investment climate are taken", Z. Aitzhanova noted.
