Crucial to develop response mechanisms to combat nuclear terrorism - Kazakh President
WASHINGTON. April 13. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ It is necessary to develop response mechanisms to combat nuclear terrorism up to the establishment of a special structure under the aegis of the UN. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has made such proposal at the first session of the Washington Nuclear Security Summit today.
"We should keep in mind that amid globalization terrorist organizations continue to appear and operate. They use global communication networks and sometimes rely on the support of some state regimes on the basis of ideological affinity or simply corruption. This enables the international terrorism to create necessary infrastructure and concentrate financial and other sources", N. Nazarbayev noted.
In this context the President suggested discussing the issue of developing response mechanisms at the conference of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism in Astana.
