Countries nurturing nuclear ambitions must abandon them: N.Nazarbayev

WASHINGTON. April 13. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ "Countries nurturing nuclear ambitions must abandon them", Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said today at the first session of the Global Summit on Nuclear Security in Washington.

"The situation of uncertainty and instability in the filed of prevention of nuclear threat and nuclear terrorism is created by the following factors: lack of global confidence between countries especially in the issues of war and peace, nuclear disarmament or disarmament as a whole; problems in the field of provision of security in storage, warehousing, transportation of nuclear weapons and materials appropriate for its production; system weakness of interstate cooperation especially in the provision of global security", the President stressed.

"It's time to legalize a new format of the Nuclear Club, incorporating the states possessing nuclear weapons de facto. This Club and its every member must incur liabilities to act by agreement with the UN Security Council", the Head of Kazakhstan noted.
