Cooperation within EEU to strengthen economies of member states - Nazarbayev
MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - Addressing the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on Friday, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed confidence that the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) based on the principles of equality and pragmatism can strengthen economies of its member countries amid global crisis.
The Kazakh leader started off his speech by greeting participants of the meeting and thanked the Russian side for the invitation to partake in the festive events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in Moscow and the organization of the first session of the Council since making the decision to create the Eurasian economic bloc. "It's been a year since the Treaty on the EEU establishment was signed and today we hold the first session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council after the signing. It's been more than four months since our project became effective. I am confident that the union based on the principles of equality and pragmatism can strengthen economies of our countries amid global crisis," President Nazarbayev said. Nursultan Nazarbayev also welcomed new members of the EEU - Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. "I am sure that joint cooperation in the future will solidify the ties between our countries and give powerful impulse to the development of the Eurasian Economic Union," the Kazakh President stressed.
