"Last week Kazakhstan marked the 20th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. Kazakhstan, as none of the other Central Asian states, demonstrated responsible and active steps in the field of renunciation of nuclear weapons," Mr. Guido Hertz noted.

According to him, over the past 20 years Kazakhstan has made positive changes in its development. "Kazakhstan stands out among the other four Central Asian states that became independent at the same time. Kazakhstan's presidency of the OSCE in 2010 and OIC in 2011 also speaks of the country's progress. A vivid proof of the successful development of Kazakhstan is its young capital - Astana. Its construction demonstrates how much can be achieved if there is a political will in the country," the diplomat noted.
