Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Caribbean to embark on a new level, FM

ASTANA. KAZINFORM As part of his working trip to New York, Kazakh Foreign Affairs Minister Erlan Idrissov held a set of bilateral talks with foreign counterparts and heads of the largest international organizations, the ministry's press service said.

The Kazakh FM took part in the annual meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) foreign ministers, met with foreign ministers of the g7+ that groups 20 post-conflict countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. The minister briefed on Kazakhstan's long-term development strategy 2050, the key foreign policy initiatives, foreign policy concept for 2014-2020. Idrissov stressed that Kazakhstan is interested in expanding diplomatic presence in Latin America and the Caribbean. He drew attention to commonality of Kazakhstan and CARICOM member states' positions on many issues, particularly, transition to green economy. The Kazakh FM also invited colleagues to participate in EXPO 2017. The Kazakh minister met with foreign colleagues to debate cooperation within international organizations, Kazakhstan's bid to take a non-permanent seat on the UN SC for 2017-2018 and share views on urgent issues of the international agenda.
