Coop development between Kazakhstan and Council of Europe discussed in Strasbourg

BRUSSELS. October 8. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Issues of cooperation development between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe as well as preparation to the OSCE Summit scheduled for December 1-2 in Astana were discussed at a meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Luxemburg, Head of Missions to the European Union and NATO Yerik Utembayev with Thorbjørn Jagland, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

The Head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission emphasized the necessity of promotion of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe in the issues of accession of our country to a range of conventions of this organization.

T.Jagland was also briefed on Astana efforts as OSCE Chair. In particular, the role of Kazakhstan as the presiding in the Organization country in settling the conflict in Kyrgyzstan and humanitarian and economic assistance to this country was emphasized.

Besides, the parties discussed the process of preparation to the forthcoming OSCE Summit in December 1-2 this year. The Secretary General noted that the decision on holding the Summit was the recognition of the efforts of the Organization chair country.
