Construction of al-Farabi Historical-Cultural Center in Damascus to be finished in two years - Ministry of Culture
ASTANA. February 24. KAZINFORM /Yernur Akanbai/ Minister of Culture and Information Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed said construction of the al-Farabi Historical-Cultural complex in Damascus would be finished in two years. He announced it at a regular session of the Public Council on realization of Cultural Heritage National Strategic Project for 2009-2011.
"By the instruction of the Head of the State we have launched reconstruction of the al-Farabi Mausoleum as well as construction of the al-Farabi Historical-Cultural Center in Damascus. Construction work is carried out on schedule at present. To my mind, it will be finished within two years", m. Kul-Mukhammed said.
The Minister also informed of reconstruction of the Sultan Beibars Mausoleum in Damascus and his Mosque in Cairo in order to propagate national historical heritage on the international level.
"Nursultan Nazarbayev was the first Kazakh to visit the Mosque in Cairo built by Beibars. Huge work has been performed since that time. This is a very large mosque. Millions of dollars are likely to be spent for its full reconstruction. The project is also supported by the UNESCO. Kazakhstan allocates USD 4.5 mln for the project's implementation", M. Kul-Mukhammed added.
