Conference on results of OSCE Summit held in Bern

ASTANA. December 8. KAZINFORM A conference on the results of the OSCE Summit in Astana organized by the Kazakh Embassy in Switzerland was held in Bern, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

The keynote speakers of the conference were Kazakh Ambassador Mukhtar Tleuberdi and Head of the Political Affairs Division I of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affair, Ambassador Christian Meuwly who accompanied Federal Councillor of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey to the OSCE Summit.

The Kazakh diplomat informed the participants of the conference on the main priorities, held activities and measures taken by our country on balancing and activation of the work of the OSCE on the three baskets in accordance with the modern challenges.

Ambassador C. Meuwly shared his impression from the Summit and highly appraised the efforts made by Kazakhstan as the OSCE chairman. Citing the speech of Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey at the Summit the Ambassador noted that the election of Astana as the Summit hosting city emphasized the growing importance of the country in the world politics. He expressed assurance that Kazakhstan would further play an important role in the Organization.

Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Switzerland Derrick Widmer briefed the audience on positive comments of the Swiss mass media on the results of the Summit. German Ambassador to Switzerland Axel Berg noted that Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev managed to solve a complicated task bringing together Heads of the OSCE states at the Summit of the Organization that resulted in adoption of the declaration.
