Conference on combating drug trafficking initiated by Kazakhstan in Vienna

ASTANA. July 9. KAZINFORM A conference on combating drugs trafficking and strengthening the control over precursors initiated by Kazakhstan is held in Vienna, the press office of the Kazakh Internal Affairs Ministry reports.

As the organizers informed, the event was aimed at strengthening of the support of the OSCE member states in struggle against drugs and psychotropic substances trafficking, international organized crime and improvement of interaction of law-enforcement and special authorities of the OSCE member states.

National top level experts on combating drugs trafficking, partners on cooperation and representatives of international and regional organizations take part in the conference. Kazakh delegation including representatives of the Prosecutor-General's office, National Security Committee, Foreign Ministry, Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance is headed by Minister of Internal Affairs Serik Baimagambetov. Opening the conference the Kazakh Minister said that the problem of combating drug-related crimes had international character. It needs to be countered by joint efforts, based on wide cooperation and coordinated activities of all interested states and international organizations, the Minister noted.

The organizers of the event are the Kazakh Permanent Representation in the OSCE, Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs, Foreign Ministry and OSCE Strategic Police Matters Unit.
