Conference on Central Asian security problems held in Brussels
BRUSSELS. February 15. KAZINFORM Yesterday Brussels held the conference on "European Union - Central Asia Security and Cooperation Forum. New partnership strategy", organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Europe. Representatives of the European Foreign Service, diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries to the EU, leading European experts and reporters took part in it.
EU Special Representative for Central Asia Pierre Morel emphasized the role of such organizations as OSCE, SCO, CSTO and CICA which work actively on development of joint efforts to solve security problems in the region. Also the EU diplomat noted Kazakhstan's leading role as a chairman of each of the said regional organizations.
Besides, P. Morel noted the key security problems of the Central Asia region (CAR), particularly, water and ecological problems, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan insecurity.
In her turn, counselor of the Kazakh Embassy to Belgium Aiman Zhakeyeva added that Kazakhstan as a chairman of the abovementioned organizations has promoted two key ideas. It urged its partners and rendered its hands-on assistance in social-economic reconstruction and development of Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, especially, taking into account the well-known events of 2010.
