Commission on Nuclear Weapons Nonproliferation under Kazakh President holds 1st sitting

ASTANA. January 20. KAZINFORM. /Muratbek Makulbekov/ First sitting of the Commission on Nuclear Weapons Nonproliferation under the President of Kazakhstan has been held today.

Opening the session Chairman of the Commission, Secretary of State - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev said that the President's decision to establish a new commission was a logical step toward strengthening of the Kazakhstan's status as one of the acknowledged world leaders in the sphere of nuclear weapons nonproliferation.

He noted that the US President Barack Obama's invitation addressed to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to take in the Global Summit on Nuclear Security in Washington in April 2010 confirmed high authority of our country.

A number of issues regarding nuclear nonproliferation, international cooperation of Kazakhstan in this sphere, preparation of the Kazakh delegation for participation in the forthcoming US Summit was discussed at the sitting.
