Collapse of Larsen B accelerates glaciers' melting

BEIJING. April 9. KAZINFORM The Larsen B ice shelf collapsed and broke away from the Antarctic peninsula during February and March, 2002; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
The collapse is thought to have been accelerated by warm summer tempertures which caused meltwater to fill crevasses along the landward side of the Larsen shelf, leading to intensified pressures within the sheet structure.
The photos were taken by LANDSAT-7 of NASA, showing how the collapse of Larsen B dramatically influenced multiple ice glaciers that filled the shelf; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
