CIS - platform for brand new integration associations

SCOW. December 8. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ This December the ex-USSR will approach a significant milestone - 20 years since the breakup of the huge empire - USSR and the establishment of the brand new union - the Commonwealth of Independent States.

On December 8, 1991 presidents of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement on the foundation of the CIS and in 12 days heads of the 11 ex-Soviet republics signed the Alma-Ata Declaration.

The CIS laid the foundation for new integration associations acknowledged in the international arena such as the EurAsEC, Customs Union, CSTO, SCO and CICA.
