CIS experts discuss legal cooperation in Minsk 16-17 October
MINSK. KAZINFORM - A regular meeting of the advisory committee of the heads of legal departments of the Foreign Ministries of the CIS member states is running in Minsk on 16-17 October, BelTA learned form the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
Meeting will be hosted by the CIS Executive Committee headquarters and the Belarusian Foreign Ministry under the chairmanship of the head of the legal department of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Popkov. The meeting will be attended by representatives of the CIS member states, the CIS Economic Court and the Executive Committee.
The meeting participants will discuss topical issues of legal cooperation in the CIS relating to the depositary practice, practice of drafting international treaties in the Commonwealth of Independent States, the legal status of delegations in the CIS states, the monitoring of international obligations in the CIS and other relevant international issues of mutual interest, BelTA reports.
The advisory committee was founded following the decision of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council on 15 September 2004. The Committee is the CIS body of legal cooperation. Its major goals is the consideration of international legal aspects of the CIS activity, the analysis of the CIS practices in the international law and the implementation of international commitments, preparation of recommendations on legal issues for the CIS Heads of State Council, the CIS Heads of Government Council or the CSI Foreign Ministers Council for the coordination of common approaches for the CIS member states, definition of promising areas of cooperation for the legal agencies of the CIS Foreign Ministries.
