CIS Executive Committee starts fist meeting of 2014
ST-PETERSBURG. January 16. KAZINFORM — On January 15-16 the CIS Executive Committee is holding a meeting of the expert group on the harmonization of the draft Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIOS member-states on the issues of returning minors to the country of residence.
According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, at this stage the Agreement stipulates that the competent authorities of the CIS countries on the basis of the request should assist each other in search and return to the state of residence minors left without care.
The document stipulates the conditions for minors to return to the country of permanent residence, the order of allocation of costs for the care and transportation as well as the fixed rate at which the competent authorities of the parties should assist the specialized agencies and persons accompanying minors in their state of residence, when returning, travel in transit, visa procurement and other issues.
Note that the Agreement was adopted on October 7, 2002. It was signed by the Heads of Governments of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. However, due to changes in the situation and legislation in the states, the document needs to be updated.
