CIS Economic Council approves concept of cooperation in renewable energy

MOSCOW. June 19. KAZINFORM The CIS Economic Council endorsed the concept of cooperation in the field of renewable energy at a meeting in Moscow on 18 June, BelTA learned.

The CIS Economic Council also approved an agreement on consolidated financial statements of national economic entities of the CIS member states and the concept of formation and development of the interstate system of training and retraining of personnel in the field of scientific and technical information. After the comments made during the discussion of these documents are taken into account, they will be brought before the CIS Council of the Heads of Government.

The agenda of the meeting included 19 issues covering various areas of economic cooperation between the states of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The participants of the meeting discussed the progress in the implementation of the plan of action for the second phase (2012-2015) of the CIS economic development strategy up to 2020. The first results of the implementation of the free trade area agreement of 18 October 2011 were analyzed as well. In addition, the council also reviewed the status of the 2012-2014 interstate program of innovative cooperation up to 2020, and the interstate radio-navigation program.

There was an exchange of views on the state of small and medium-sized enterprises in the CIS states, the business climate, the privileges to investors, free economic zones, industrial and science and technology parks in the CIS. The meeting heard out the report of the results of regional monitoring of communication development in the CIS, BelTA reports.

In addition the Economic Council considered a number of topical issues of cooperation in the fiscal and social policies, collective security.

The next meeting of the CIS Economic Council scheduled for 20 September in Moscow.
