CIS Council of Plenipotentiaries to meet in Minsk on 26 April

MINSK. April 22. KAZINFORM The CIS Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives in the CIS main bodies are set to meet in Minsk on 26 April to discuss the issues of cooperation in migration policy, BelTA learnt from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

According to BelTA, the participants of the meeting will take stock of the progress made in the implementation of a comprehensive plan of overriding measures aimed at putting into practice the fundamental principles of the Declaration on the CIS Coordinated Migration Policy.

The provisions of the comprehensive plan contributed to the implementation of an array of events to combat illegal migration and regulate labor migration. The CIS bodies took part in different international conferences and seminars highlighting migration issues. Competent bodies of the CIS member states continued vigorous cooperation in retraining and enhancing qualifications of the personnel engaged in migration issues.

The council of the heads of the CIS migration bodies set up on 5 October 2007 plays an important role in coordinating relations and addressing the issues of migration policy, implementation of the comprehensive plan. The council has already held eight sessions where considered nearly 80 issues.

The CIS Council of the Plenipotentiary Representatives will also consider the results of the session of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers on 8 April and define further goals, the press service noted.
