CIS air defense system exercise scheduled for August-October
MINSK. June 6. KAZINFORM A joint exercise of the united air defense system of the Commonwealth of Independent States will take place in August-October 2013. The exercise is titled as Combat Commonwealth 2013, Kazakhstan Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov told media on 5 June, BelTA has learned.
The decision to stage the exercise was made by the session of the CIS Defense Ministers Council in Minsk on 5 June. The exercise will involve live fire by troops of the united CIS air defense system. The exercise will take place at permanent stations of the troops, at the firing range Ashuluk in Russia and at firing ranges in Kazakhstan.
The exercise is designed to practice cooperation between the armed forces within the framework of the united air defense system and will give an additional impulse to further development in this sphere, noted the Defense Minister of Kazakhstan.
The united air defense system is one of the most effective examples of interaction between the armies of the CIS states. It has been decided to hold the exercise for the sake of polishing the practical facet of interaction, underlined Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, BelTA reports.
