OSLO. October 8. KAZINFORM Chinese well-known dissident Liu Xiaobo was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010 on Friday. Mr. Liu, 54, was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2008 on charges of "inciting the subversion of state power," Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee Thorbjorn Jagland said on Friday; Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS.
Liu Xiaobo was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize for his lasting and nonviolent struggle for fundamental human rights in China, the Nobel Committee said in a statement; Kazinform cites ITAR-TASS.
