“Children of XXI: Our Rights and Opportunities” summit held in Astana

ANA. November 2. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/  UNICEF Representative to Kazakhstan Hanaa Singer emphasized that children abandonment and leaving them in orphanages is among the most serious problems in Kazakhstan, delivering a speech at the republican summit "Children of XXI: Our Rights and Opportunities" devoted to the 20 anniversary of the UN Convention on the right of the children.

According to the UNICEF Representative, the organization works with the Kazakh Government on substitute forms of resolution of the problem.

H.Singer stressed that the adoption of the Convention benefited Kazakh children. "The Kazakh Laws were harmonized with the international standards. A set of Laws in the field of juvenile justice, healthcare, education was approved", she said. The UN Representative noted that there exist a range of good programs on investing in children in Kazakhstan.
