Chemical scare as wagons carrying sulphuric acid derail in Taraz

TARAZ. KAZINFORM - The sulphuric acid leaked in Zhambyl region yesterday from tank wagons which derailed near Taraz city.
The accident occurred in the industrial zone of Taraz city between Shaikuruk and Buryl stations. According to reports, 3 tank wagons loaded with the dangerous chemical derailed and one of them leaked at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 19. No casualties were reported. Akim (mayor) of Taraz city declared a state of emergency. The cause of the derailment is still being investigated.
